Revista Areté of the Speech and Hearing Therapy program of Corporación Universitaria Iberoamericana began as as a need to have a space to publish academic production. In this way, in 1994, a first bulletin called Areté was issued that collected the written production of teachers and students. The name is still preserved, a word coined by the Greeks that means "to be the best", not in a sense of competition, but in the sense of "cultivating artistic qualities, and the capacity for intellectual exercises." As a moral ingredient, it refers to goodness, virtuosity, individual capacity and citizenship, aspects that are promoted in the education of our institution’s students.
As a journal, it published volume 01 in 2001, and it has continuously disseminated the results of research on issues related to Interpersonal human communication. Initially, only one volume was issued per year, in printed format. Starting in 2015, it began publishing two issues a year.
Startin in 2016, publication is done online through the portal arete@ibero.edu.co, a semi-annual publication with two issues circulating every year, in response to the interest of the academic community in order to take on new challenges.
Revista Areté has been a national and international example for professionals and students of speech and hearing therapy and related areas. It has crossed institutional and geographic borders, solidifying its position in the scientific community.
