State of the art of speech therapy intellectual production in disability of a Colombian university Estado del arte de la producción intelectual fonoaudiológica en discapacidad de una universidad colombiana

Abstract

Objective: To identify the relationship between the different transformations of the concept of disability and its approach in the intellectual productions carried out in the Academic Program of Phonoaudiology (PAF) of the School of Human Rehabilitation (ERH), of the Universidad del Valle, in the decade of 1996 until 2006. Methods: Project of Historical-Hermeneutic approach with design that corresponds to the creation of a State of the Art on the intellectual production in the PAF of the ERH of the Universidad del Valle during the period from 1996 to 2006. It was worked with 80 units of analysis, a re-categorization format was used Results: The units of analysis were mostly presented with empirical-analytical research approaches, descriptive research designs, with a greater predominance of the rehabilitative model and more emphasis on the adult population. When crossing the variables: disability models and research designs, it was found that the rehabilitation, integrative and systemic-ecological models worked more from descriptive designs and systematizations, and the works classified with other designs, in which the monographs are included, handled in greater quantity the models of medical-organicist and rehabilitative disability, in equal proportion.Conclusions: In the research work developed in the Phonoaudiology undergraduate program, it was identified that they did not follow a parallel line with the evolution of the concept of disability managed from the frame of reference at the national level and seldom managed to work with the disability model determined in the reform of the curriculum of the academic program in the period studied, since the works in their chronological order showed regressions or mixtures of the models. In conclusion, it was not possible to identify a direct relationship with respect to the investigative rigor.
