Abstract

The effects that the world is currently experiencing as a result of the pandemic generated by the coronavirus demand deep transformations in societies at the level of creativity, exchange of experiences and new ways of seeing current reality and phenomena (ECLAC 2020)

Without a doubt, in this scenario of the pandemic, in which life and health acquired a preponderant value, the great protagonists have been knowledge, research, innovation and the development of 4.0 technologies. Thanks to these advances, the countries of the world generated products and services aimed at mitigating the impact of Covid 19 on the economy, society, and life. Among the collective strategies that were developed to cope with the social and health emergency, are the adaptations of the educational and work meeting scenarios through the virtual world. An issue that was fundamental for sustaining social dynamics, although it generated impacts in terms of human interaction and, consequently, in the communication and learning processes of the different populations. Isolation not only meant social distancing, but the adoption of new practices for the development of human actions.

Within this context, the actions of health professionals have been forced to be thought and reflected upon in the search for solutions and responses to the problems that afflict today's society at a time when knowledge, innovation and technological development live their highest threshold. Without a doubt, this new reality has an impact on the speech therapy profession, which is interested in the communicative well-being of people and its effect on human and social development, urging it to incorporate research into its daily activities as a tool to delve into the personal and social world of the subjects in the understanding and interpretation of their communicative needs, their intentions and demands that are resignified due to the influence that the changing reality imprints on them.
