The aim of this investigation is to describe the perception the labor of the Speech and Languaje therapist in institutions where it realizes its professional practice in Popayán city. A qualitative and ethnographic study was carry out, in which a semiconstructed interview was used as instrument compilation of information. The selected sample was not probabilistic character, integrated by 38 persons, 32 of feminine sex and 6 of masculine sex, of these three they were professional in the areas of Engineering, Health and Education and took the employer’s role; eleven informants integrated the group of guardians and nineteen were part of the Interdisciplinary Group. The results showed that the formation of perceptions is influenced of direct form by aspects related to the type of informant, the educational level and the time of relation with the professional. On the other hand the majority of the informants recognized as positive the labor of the Fonoaudiology nevertheless they confused areas and fields of work.
