The purpose of this article was to determine the procedures for evaluation and diagnosis of oropharyngeal dysphagia used by speech pathologists at the University of Cauca working in the city of Popayan in the first quarter of 2010. The research was quantitative, descriptive, cross sectional population study group was comprised of 21 speech therapists graduated from the University of Cauca, which catered to people with dysphagia. Among the results found that 66.7% do not use a protocol to evaluate and diagnose dysphagia, reported performing more procedures were. Fonoarticuladores assessment bodies, blue and history test and cervical auscultation underreported, no report assessing the technical voice of the five fingers, the most important signs to diagnose oral dysphagia were bolus mishandling and spillage of liquid corners sores, and to diagnose pharyngeal dysphagia was cough, 47.6% no dysphagia classified according to severity and 42.8% of audiologists refer to videofluroscopia, The procedures for evaluation and diagnosis of oropharyngeal dysphagia are between each speech pathologist different, despite working in
the same institutions. It is important to use an assessment protocol.
